The increased adoption of 2D barcode scanners is the primary growth driver for the market. The 2D imager segment dominated the global industrial barcode scanner market in 2015 by accounting for over 47% of the overall market share. The ability of these imagers to read both 2D images, including QR codes and Data Matrix, and 1D barcodes is responsible for the flourishing of the 2D imager segment. The projected increase in the use of 2D images is expected to have a positive impact on the market by 2020 (Persbericht Technavio, 10 mei 2016).
