Actieve voedselverpakkingen met nanocomposieten gebaseerd op biopolymeren met ingebedde actieve stoffen
Nanocomposites based on biopolymers with active substances incorporated in their structure have been recognized as potential materials for the development of food packaging.
Researchers at the University of Santiago de Chile developed nanocomposites with antimicrobial activity based on cellulose acetate (CA), a commercial organoclay Cloisite30B (C30B), thymol (T) as natural antimicrobial component and tri-ethyl citrate (TEC) as plasticizer. They found that the results obtained in the study are really promissory to be applied in the manufacture of food packaging materials. An article about the research is published in Food Additives & Contaminants: Part A.
