Biodegradeerbare gekleurde zetmeel-chitosan folie
Researchers at the Institute of Nuclear Science and Technology in Bangladesh used starch, chitosan and acacia catechu (a natural resin for colouring) to make biodegradable films. The chitosan content in the films was varied from 20% to 80%. They found that the tensile strength was improved significantly with the addition of chitosan but the elongation at break of the composites decreased. The tensile strength of the composites raised more with the addition of the acacia catechu content in the films. Water uptake was found lower for final composites in comparison to starch/chitosan and chitosan films. An article about the research is published in the Open Journal of Organic Polymer Materials.
