The global corrugated packaging industry generated almost 90 million tonnes of finished product, worth over €120 billion in 2013, according to the new report by SmithersPira ‘The Future of Corrugated Board Packaging to 2019’. This was produced from almost 110 million tonnes of containerboard material, manufactured in over 750 paper mills globally. Demand for corrugated packaging material is expected to increase more than 4% annually over the next five years to reach €120 billion by 2019.
