DK: Rapport milieubelasting van 3D printen met kunststof
As the price of 3D printers has decreased, the number of industrial and consumer 3D printers has climbed with an estimated 400,000 devices in use globally and 20,000 in Denmark. Aside from material data sheets for the two most common plastic filaments used - PLA and ABS - little is known about potential environmental and health effects associated with 3D printing.
A report published by the Danish Environmental Protection Agency says that the printing filaments contain additives, but there is only limited information about their chemical identity. The report also examines a limited number of lifecycle analyses of 3D printing (State Recycling Laws Update, 14 maart 2016).
