EC toespraak tijdens European Circular Economy Conference

On 5 March 2015 Commissioner Karmenu Vella gave a speech at the 2015 European Circular Economy Conference. He said that the decision to withdraw the waste legislative proposal was based on the need to better align it with the priorities of the new Commission.
He also said that the Commission, when re-tabling the package, will include a new legislative proposal on waste targets, taking into account the input already received, in particular the comments made by many that the previous waste proposal needed to be more country-specific. The Commission will also prepare a roadmap for further action on the circular economy. Both these aspects will come together before the end of this year.
