EU EPA Network bespreekt kunststofvervuiling van zee

25 juni 2015

The EPA Network is an informal grouping bringing together the heads and directors of environment protection agencies and similar bodies across Europe. In May 2015, a two-day meeting was held to discuss plastic and microplastic pollution in marine environments.
This pollution in the aquatic environment is an issue of concern. There is increasing evidence that marine organisms at all levels of the food web ingest plastic and microplastic which is thus entering the food chain. Microplastic is a collective term for various plastic particles with a diameter below 5 mm. There are several potential sources of microplastic, including the break-down of larger plastic materials (Website EPA Network).
