EU: New regulation approves laser etching on fruit
The Commission Regulation (EU) number 510/2013, amending Annexes I, II and III to Regulation (EC) number 1333/2008 of the European Parliament and of the Council as regards the use of iron oxides and hydroxides (E 172), hydroxypropyl methyl cellulose (E 464) and polysorbates (E 432-436) for marking of certain fruits, was recently published in the Official Journal of the European Union. The new regulation will come into force on 24 June 2013 and will apply to all EU member states (News Item FreshPlaza, 6 June 2013).
