FR: Verbod eenmalige kunststof draagtassen vanaf 1 juli 2016

In October 2015, French Minister Ségolène Royal announced that a national ban on the distribution of single-use plastic bags that would take effect on 1 January 2016. However, the European Commission delayed the implementation of the law so the Commission would have time to review the law and confirm that it does not pose a regulatory conflict within the European Union.
On 1 February 2016 the French Ministry of Ecology, Sustainable Development and Energy published the approval of the decree on single-use plastic bags. The decree applies to single-use carrier bags below a thickness of 50 microns and sets out the requirements and conditions in detail. It will come into effect on 1 July 2016.
