Project OekoStoff: LCA’s materiaaltoepassingen van biomassa

Nova’s latest LCA project OekoStoff was launched in July 2015. The project aims at (1) providing guidance on how to approach the methodological challenges related to the life cycle assessment (LCA) of using biomass for material purposes and (2) supporting the further growth of the biobased economy.
In order to further foster the acceptance and use of biobased materials, their potential environmental benefits need to be investigated in a transparent and repeatable manner using LCA. However, the current absence of consensus on how to approach the methodological challenges related to the LCAs of biobased materials hinders this development (Nieuwsbericht nova Institut, 11 augustus 2015).
