US: Voorstel toevoegen wijn aan statiegeldsysteem in Hawaii
On average, over 900 million beverage containers are sold annually in Hawaii. Established in 2005, the Hawaiian container deposit scheme places a five-cent deposit on metal, glass, PET and HDPE beverage containers up to 68 ounces in volume. In FY2015, the redemption rate fell below 70%, the first time since 2007.
Hawaii SB 2003, introduced by a group of seven Hawaii Senators, would add wine to the list of beverages covered by the state container deposit scheme. The bill was referred to the Committee on Ways and Means and the Committee on Economic Development, Environment, and Technology. If approved, it would take effect immediately (State Recycling Laws Update, 25 januari 2016).
