According to a report by MarketsandMarkets (M&M), the global protective packaging market is projected to grow from USD 24.31 Billion in 2017 to reach USD 32.02 Billion by 2022, at a CAGR of 5.67%. Major players include Smurfit Kappa Group, Sealed Air Corporation, Sonoco Products Company, WestRock, Huhatamaki, Ranpak, Pregis Corporation, Pro-Pac Packaging, Storopack Hans Reichenecker, Dow, and DS Smith.
The flexible protective packaging segment is projected to account for the largest share in 2022, mainly because of the growth in consumption of food & beverage, dairy, and cosmetic products. The growth of the healthcare industry also provides opportunities (Persbericht M&M, 23 februari 2018).
