According to a new report by Technavio, the global frozen seafood packaging market will grow steadily at a CAGR of more than 6% by 2022. The key players in the market include Amcor, Bemis, Crown Holdings, Genpak and Sealed Air.
The demand for easy-to-use packaging options has increased. In seafood packaging, flexible packaging options with zippers for opening and reclosing and microwavable pouch packaging is becoming common. Antimicrobial packaging is a new form of active packaging. The packaging must ensure the timely release of antimicrobials into the seafood. Further developments will lead to increased shelf life of frozen seafood (Persbericht Technavio, 20 januari 2018).
