Beschermingsmateriaal gebaseerd op origamistructuren
Cushioned barriers are highly desirable within the packaging industry as they provide additional content protection with high energy absorption and are commonly disposable. However, current cushioning designs typically require a significant increase in volume, which increases the shipping and handling costs and the environmental impact.
Researchers at Rutgers University US investigated origami-based deployable cushion designs that can be efficiently stowed and deployed to protect critical regions of the package during transport.
In an article, a methodology to efficiently describe, and evaluate a large number of potential origami designs as cushioning structures is introduced.
