Californië: BPA geclassificeerd als gevaar voor voortplanting

On May 11, the California Office of Environmental Health Hazard Assessment (OEHHA) announced it was listing bisphenol A (BPA) as a reproductive toxicant. The listing requires products that contain BPA to display warning labels. The designation went into immediate effect and follows consideration of the chemical’s dangers by OEHHA’s Developmental and Reproductive Toxicant Identification Committee. Makers of products (including packaging) containing BPA will have 12 months to comply with Proposition 65 requirements. Businesses are now required to provide “clear and reasonable warnings” about products that contain chemicals on the Proposition 65 list (State Recycling Laws Update, 18 mei 2015).
