DK: Ministerie geeft richtlijn gebruik PFC’s in food verpakking

Following Germany’s lead, the Danish Ministry of Food, Agriculture and Fishing has issued recommendations to food packagers to restrict the use of perfluorinated compounds (PFCs) in paper and board food packaging. At the same time, the Ministry recommended that children and pregnant women avoid eating foods prepared or packaged with PFC-containing materials.
The most common PFCs in food packaging are perfluorooctanesulfonic acid (PFOS) and perfluorooctanoic acid (PFOA). The use of PFCs in pizza boxes, grease-resistant food paper (e.g., microwave popcorn bags) and parchment paper were specified in the Danish advisory (Recycling Laws International, 31 augustus 2015).
