Spanje: Regelgeving eenmalige plastic draagtassen aangenomen

On May 18, Royal Decree 293/2018 was published in the Spanish Boletin Oficial del Estado. The decree seeks to adopt measures to reduce the consumption of plastic bags, in order to prevent and reduce the adverse impacts that the waste generated by these plastic bags produce in the environment” and to “avoid the loss of material and economic resources that involves the abandonment of plastic bags and their dispersion in the environment.
Under the new decree, the free distribution of light-weight plastic bags is prohibited, effective 1 July.
Retailers may continue to distribute such bags after that date but must affix a bag fee (Recycling Laws International, 4 juni 2018).
