Studie toont directe impact van merkloze sigarettenverpakkingen
A study by the Cancer Institute NSW in Australia has revealed the immediate impact of cigarette plain packaging. The study analysed calls to the Quitline support service to find a 78% increase associated with the phasing in of plain packaging from 1 October 2012. This evidence demonstrates the immediate effect of plain packaging legislation. There has been a more sustained increase in calls to the Quitline after the introduction of plain packaging. The effect was more immediate and for longer compared to the introduction of graphic health warnings, which saw a higher peak in calls that diminished comparatively quicker. An article about the research was published in the Medical Journal of Australia (Nieuwsbericht Cancer Institute NSW, 13 januari 2014).
